La Vista is the perfect place to relax and just let yourself be enchanted by the spectacular nature and culture that the area can offer.

Cycling in the National Park of the Alpi Apuane

But if the views and the delicious food make you feel energetic and even adventurous, there is plenty to do. As the Romans used to say ‘mens sana in corpore sano’ (healthy mind in a healthy body)! So here are some suggestions for walking, cycling etc.

Walking, Cycling and Trekking
Caprigliola is located near the National Park of the Alpi Apuane and if you like walking and trekking, you will be spoilt for choice. The Park offers a vast network of trails, from a stroll by the many streams to an energetic walk over the mountains. Some popular ones are the Lunigiana Trekking, Garfagnana Trekking, Apuane Trekking, and for the more adventurous the Alta Via delle Apuane and many others marked out by the Italian Alpine Club (CAI).

Numerous are the possibilities to cycle with mountain bikes in the trails and paths of the National Park. The Italian Railways (Ferrovie dello Stato) offer a train+bike service in the Lucca-Aulla Line and in the Coastal Line.

Thermal Baths
Equi Terme and its thermal baths (approx. 25km) are well known since the Roman times and they are located a short drive from the house. The thermal waters can be enjoyed in the large swimming pool. Many therapeutic services are also available such as balneotherapy, hydromassage, and many beauty treatments.

You can enjoy 10km of beautiful Mediterranean beaches in Versilia with its elegant seaside towns of Viareggio, Pietrasanta and Forte dei Marmi, popular with the Northern Italian wealthy society, which comes here in the summer months to enjoy the sandy beaches and the elegant boutiques. Or you can choose the narrow and steep coastline of the Ligurian sea, with the famous village of Portovenere, le Cinque Terre and Portofino, the local wine (Sciacchetra') and the seafood resteraunts.

Lerici
Tennis, Golf and Horse Riding
The nearest Golf course is located in the picturesque seaside village of Lerici. Shelley, Byron and D.H. Lawrence have lived in the area. “Ranch La Collina” is the local equestrian centre and it is just a 20 minutes drive away.
